Can I make a return or exchange?Yes, you can return or exchange anything within 30 days of purchase, no questions asked. You will pay return shipping unless an extenuating circumstance applies, please see Damaged & Broken Items for more information.
-
What if my item is damaged or broken?I take pride in my work and want you to be completely happy with your purchase. If your piece is faulty (ie. has a broken clasp or stones fell out) you have the option of a return, replacement or repair within 30 days of delivery. If it's a minor inconvenience rather than a dealbreaker, I will refund you 50% of the purchase price. In the unlikely event of an item being damaged during shipping, I will work with you to make it right. This only applies to the item you purchased, not the external packaging. Unfortunately, I do not have control of a mail carrier tossing the box over a fence and denting it. If the item is damaged due to an accident, I can do my best to repair it for a fee. You will pay shipping both ways in this case. Please send an email to info@oncebittenjewelry.com with photos of the damage.
-
Can I get my ring re-sized?Because of the nature of my work, some rings are difficult or impossible to re-size. Please send an email to info@oncebittenjewelry.com to discuss the options pertaining to your piece. If your ring is the correct size ordered, but it does not fit how you would like it to I offer resizing or reworking for a fee on designs that are able to be altered. You can also make a return or exchange for a different item. In this case, you would pay shipping both ways. If your ring measures the wrong size, I will resize or recreate it for free and pay shipping both ways.
-
Can I retroactively use promos on past orders?I am not able to offer retroactive use of promotions on orders made previously. Unfortunately, missing out on sales and promotions is a risk of any type of shopping. While large corporations may be able to accommodate this, Once Bitten Jewelry is a one woman operation.
-
Where is my order? When orders ship, you are sent an email with tracking information. Please use that to see the location of your package, I do not have any additional information available to me past what is on that tracking page. To insure your package will make it to the correct doorstep, please triple check your address prior to checkout. Packages returned to sender due to an incomplete or incorrect address can be re-sent but you will be responsible for shipping.
-
Where do you ship and how much is shipping?I ship worldwide! Shipping rates are: United States: Free (3 to 5 business days) Canada: $15 USD, free on orders $150+ (5 to 7 business days) UK & Europe: $20 USD, free on orders $200+ (7 to 14 business days)
-
Is my package lost?Fear not! Some mail carriers can accidentally mark a package as delivered rather than scan it for the correct step in transit. Because of this potential error, most shipping companies advise waiting for three business days before reaching out to declare a package missing. If that three business day period has passed, please contact me at info@oncebittenjewelry.com
-
Can I request a certain carrier be used for my package?Have beef with FedEx, UPS, USPS? Send an email to info@oncebittenjewelry.com before checking out on the site and I will send it via a certain carrier for you. Whichever option is cheapest/fastest is what is selected by default (normally USPS Ground Advantage), so if your preferred carrier is more expensive you will need to pay that overage.
-
What customizations can I choose?I currently offer the setting of stones, carving details (ie. a cavity in a Wisdom Charm) and oxidization. I do not offer letter stamping at this time. Customizations start at $20 plus cost of materials like stones. To chat about your request, please send an email to info@oncebittenjewelry.com and we can discuss your options.
-
I don't see the metal or stone option I want, what can I do?Please send me an email at info@oncebittenjewelry.com and I will do what I can to fulfill your wish! If that isn't possible, we can discuss creating a custom piece.
-
Do you offer custom work from scratch?Hi! While I may not be able to accomodate all requests, I would love to hear your idea. Please send an email to info@oncebittenjewelry.com to discuss your options, custom work starts at $250.
-
What metals do you offer?I primarily work in sterling silver, brass and yellow bronze to keep things as accessible as possible. For custom work I can use whichever metal you would prefer, send an email to info@oncebittenjewelry.com and I will be able to give you a cost estimate. Please keep in mind these estimates are only good for 24 hours due to the ever-changing costs of fine metals.
-
Can you set a specific stone in a piece?Yes! If you do not see an option you like or would like more stones than a piece currently has, send an email to info@oncebittenjewelry.com and let me know what you are looking for. If you can dream it, I will do my best to make it happen. I keep a healthy stock of most of the gemstones I use on hand. I can also order special requests but do keep in mind it may take as much as 1-2 business weeks for stones to get to me.

What won't tarnish my skin?Solid gold and silver, as well as plated options (with the plate in tact) will not leave that green mark on your skin that some materials can. Bronze and brass will tarnish your skin over time if worn constantly. Bronze is an alloy that contains copper, which can oxidize when combined with moisture, creating patina. This reaction creates that green tint of copper carbonate on your skin after wearing a piece for awhile. This can be avoided by removing your jewelry to shower or wash your hands, it is harmless and disappears quickly.

How do I clean and polish my jewelry?Using a soft tooth brush and dish soap you can gently scrub away most dirt and grime from your jewelry. Please do not do this over a drain, you can imagine why. To remove tarnish you can pick up an inexpensive silver polish (Wright's is my preferred brand) and use it on all of your solid metal jewelry to bring back that shine. Please do not do this with plated items, it can remove the plate! I also offer Sunshine polishing clothes for sale, which are safe to use on heavier plated metals such as gold fill.
